Second Helpings, indeed

Second Helpings on 9th street & 7th avenue in Park Slope is one of those awesome places that I tend to forget about and kick myself for it later. But not anymore! It's a cute little place that serves mostly vegetarian & vegan foods, with some organic meats. With a counter full of their homemade vegan sweets, scones, and side dishes, you cannot go wrong. Everything is labeled well, such as soup that will say "dairy-free, but not vegan!" to give you a thorough heads-up, or the big luscious "V" next to their yummy vegan sammiches menu written in chalk above. Drinks are a variety of Kombucha teas and Naked Juices to choose from, and on your way out you can even grab a flyer or two on holistic health care.

I didn't even realize just how fitting the name was until my first bite of their peanut stew, when all I could think of was how to have this meal a "second" and third time for later that day.

When something is great enough to want it again before you have even finished it in front of you, you just know you have hit home.
